Summary
Chinese New Year, also known as Lunar New Year or Spring Festival, is one of the most important times for family in Chinese culture. It’s a special occasion when relatives, often separated by long distances and busy lives, make the journey back to their hometowns to reunite under one roof. Families gather around big tables filled with traditional dishes, share stories, honor ancestors, and welcome the new year together — cherishing precious moments that strengthen family bonds and keep traditions alive across generations.
What remained constant was the warmth of the people – resilient, generous, and deeply rooted in a culture that embraces both movement and memory. One of the most captivating elements I encountered was the way tradition is preserved, not as relic, but as living, breathing identity. The Indian saree, for instance, wasn’t just clothing – it was expression. Everywhere I looked, women wore sarees in styles and colours as diverse as the regions themselves.
Each drape told a story of heritage, elegance, and individuality. These moments, small and profound, became symbols of a culture that evolves without ever losing touch with its soul. Through my lens, I aimed to honour that delicate balance – between tradition and change, resilience and grace.
